Class Structure

For the academic year (2023-2024) there are eight year groups in school taught in 3 classes, including a Foundation Stage.

The teaching staff consists of three teachers (including the Head Teacher), and four Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA), who are responsible for planning and delivery of teacher’s Planning, Preparation and Assessment time.

The children are organised into three classes:

Pre- School, Year R, taught by Mrs. Willis (19 children)

Year 1 and Year 2 - taught by Mrs. Hodkinson (15 children)

Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 -taught by Mrs. Matthews (20 children)

Children are taught in a variety of ways, for example, whole class teaching, small group work, paired work (when appropriate) and one to one work  with a teacher or HLTA .

Flexible groupings are in place for the teaching of Numeracy and Literacy. Children are always encouraged to give their best, work to the best of ability in extending their skills, knowledge and understanding at their own individual level.

Parental help is welcomed and utilised weekly in special outdoor sessions such as 'Welly Wednesday'.
