This term we are exploring 'Wild Weather' by becoming weather experts. We have been looking at how the seasons have changed from summer into autumn.
We have been making rain gauges to catch the rainfall on our playground. We will measure the rain amount every Monday for six weeks and record how much rain has fallen.
We looked for the signs for autumn on a walk to our Welly Wednesday camp. We saw changes in the trees and leaves, the colder weather as well as finding bushes full of blackberries
We became 'Weather Watchers' during our Welly Wednesday session today. Every 20 minutes the children observed the weather and used their recording sheet to show weather and temperature at each interval. We noticed that the weather became colder over the time observed but the weather stayed much the same- sunny and cloudy.
How it fits into the curriculum:
Pupils should be taught to:
- observe changes across the four seasons
- observe and describe weather associated with the seasons and how day length varies.
