Welly Wednesday
Each week we take the opportunity to get the children outside to enjoy the beautiful surroundings that we have in, and around Greystoke School.
Every Wednesday, we visit our 'Welly Wednesday Camp' deep in the forest surrounding Greystoke Castle. It is an amazing opportunity for children in Nursery to Year 2 to develop a sense of nature and wellbeing. We aim to provide an opportunity for individuals to develop, to learn and to enjoy themselves. To provide a safe and non-threatening environment in which children can take risks, make choices and initiate their own learning. To help children understand, appreciate and care for the natural environment.
Welly Wednesday
EYFS and KS1 have been preparing for their 'Harvest Celebration' by looking for signs of Autumn and observing weather changes. The children took part in stilling and gathered ideas for a Harvest poem.
September - EYFS and KS1 children enjoyed a sunny afternoon at the 'Welly Wednesday' camp. As part of our whole school topic 'Here We Are', we explored the outdoor environment and completed three challenges. We made stick frames, wind streamers using recycled bags and investigated the forest floor, hunting for bugs!
