Religious Education

Over the past few weeks, the KS2 children have been exploring stories from the Old Testament, beginning with the Creation Story and leading into the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Throughout these sessions, the children have listened to different perspectives on these stories and made thoughtful connections to their own experiences, beliefs, and to other religious stories they know.

Today, the children completed their beautiful painted Garden of Eden creations. Each piece was made on fabric and carefully embellished to bring the Garden and the Creation Story to life. They considered Christian and Jewish beliefs about what is found in the Garden of Eden, including the serpent and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, which they chose to place at the centre of their artwork. Next week, the children are looking forward to describing their gardens as a guided tour, using their senses to explore the sights, sounds, textures, and feelings of this special place.

Our whole school had a lovely Christmas visit to church in the barn! 🐑✨
We stepped right into the sights, smells, and sounds of Bethlehem. From meeting the shepherds watching their flocks, to hearing the angels’ joyful news, to encountering soldiers and even King Herod himself… it truly felt like we had travelled back in time. The highlight was meeting Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in the manger. 🌟
Such a meaningful, hands-on way to share the Christmas story — full of wonder, excitement, and a whole lot of hay!

We had a lovely morning at St Andrew's Church, Greystoke reliving the Easter Journey. The children participated in the events of the week leading up to Easter Sunday. The session started on Palm Sunday when they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem, they then followed different events such as Jesus clearing the temple, they participated in the Last Supper, witnessed the events where Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, was crucified and then rose again on Easter Sunday. Thank you very much to the team at St Andrew's Church for bringing the story of Easter to life for the children..
